“Spider-Man: No Way Home” continues to shatter records

Some may call “Spider-Man: No Way Home” possibly one of the most anticipated films of 2021. The movie is the third Spider-Man led MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) film.

This movie received several positive reviews due to it bringing back beloved Spider-Man characters. Willem Dafoe returned as Green Goblin, Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus, Jamie Fox as Electro, and many more.

Even before the movie was released, it was breaking records. According to The Wrap ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ scored the biggest first-day advance ticket sales on Fandango since 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame”. In contrast to that, “The Matrix Resurrection” was released at the same time as the Spider-Man film and only made 140 million dollars worldwide in the box office. Spider-Man was able to far exceed expectations, despite the rise of the Covid-19 Omicron virus.

When tickets originally came out on Nov. 29, fans overwhelmed ticket sites and crashed all of them. The box office hasn’t had an instance like this since before the pandemic. AMC had virtual queues to get tickets which made fans wait for multiple hours to have the opportunity to purchase tickets.

Before the full movie went to theaters, its trailer gained over 355 million views in just one day of it’s release, making it the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours. It surpassed “Avengers: Endgame” once again, which stood at 289 million views.

“No Way Home” has received an extremely positive reaction from audiences.

“Spider-Man: No Way Home now officially has the highest Rotten tomatoes audience score for any film that has garnered more than 20,000 reviews” , Screen Rant explains.

It has also broken the record as the biggest December opening of all time. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” originally held this title with $529 million in 2015.

As of Jan. 4th, the movie grossed $1.6 billion worldwide. It is now the most successful movie to be released in the pandemic, surpassing “No Time to Die” at $774 million. It is also the only movie released in the pandemic to pass the billion dollar mark and the 6th highest grossing film of all time, beating “Jurassic World.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” has helped the box office and movie theaters come far since the original impact of Covid-19. This movie has drawn in many people because it is more of an experience, and overall the audience has really responded to that, enabling this movie to break multiple records.
