After not releasing a studio album in five years, Lady Gaga just released her seventh one, “Mayhem,” on March 7th, and includes 14 songs, three of which have music videos. 

Before Mayhem was released, fans were expecting the album to have a similar vibe to her previous albums, such as “The Fame,” released in 2008, and “Born This Way,” released in 2011. Her past albums could be described as pop-focused, fun, and exciting. Although Mayhem is similar to her previous albums in some ways, it is being described as more intense, darker, and edgier, which has disappointed some fans. 

Lady Gaga’s overall music style has been growing and changing over time. Her newer songs have more emotion and complex feelings. Although Mayhem did not meet all her fans’ expectations, her songs are topping the charts! 

Lady Gaga is best known for her songs, “Poker Face” and “Bad Romance,” but for thirteen consecutive weeks, “Die with a Smile,” featuring Bruno Mars, has been #1 on Billboard Hot 100! Her five most popular songs on the album are “Abracadabra,” “Garden Of Eden,” “Vanish Into You,” “How Bad Do U Want Me,” and “Die With A Smile.”

“Abracadabra” is the second track on the album. This song reminds fans of her earlier music, but it has a more mature sound. Lady Gaga states, “And I think ‘Abracadabra’ is very much my sound-something that I honed in [on] after many years, and I wanted to do it again.”

The third track, “Garden Of Eden,” is very upbeat and high energy. This song mentions a “poisoned apple” and the “Garden of Eden,” which are references to the well-known biblical story regarding bad decisions and sin. 

“Vanish Into You” is the fifth track on Mayhem. This song is about missing memories with a past lover. Lady Gaga says, “In ‘Vanish Into You,’ I imagine that I just want to disappear into the person I love most.” 

The ninth track is “How Bad Do U Want Me.” This song is about wanting to be with someone, and the wonder of whether they feel the same way. The lyrics often repeat the title, “How bad do you want me?” to prove this.

The fourteenth track on Mayhem is “Die With A Smile,” featuring Bruno Mars. This is Gaga’s most popular song on Mayhem, and it was previously released as a single on August 16th, 2024.
