Editor’s Note: The following is a press release from the PHHS Chapter of NHS:

Pascack Hills High School National Honor Society is sponsoring an Empty Bowls event on Thursday, December 15th.  The annual event is a take-out meal of hearty soup and bread. This simple meal is meant to remind us that too many people around the world face hunger with “empty bowls”. For a $15.00 donation, participants get a 16 oz. cup of soup, bread and a ceramic bowl handmade by the Pascack Hills art students.  Additional cups may be purchased for $5.

This year our soups will be prepared by our generous local merchants: Anchor Seafood, B & M Meat Market, Big Jim’s, Fresh Market and Momma’s Kitchen. Soup choices are New England Clam Chowder, Apple-Butternut, Italian Wedding, Chicken Noodle and Lentil soup.

Orders will be taken by NHS members from December 1 through  December 15. Order forms can also be downloaded  from our website at  http://phlibguides.pascack.k12.nj.us/emptybowls. Pick up orders in the Library Media Center at Pascack Hills on December 15th between 3:00 – 4:00 pm. Mail checks to Pascack Hills HS NHS, 225 West Grand Avenue, Montvale, NJ 07645. Order will also be taken by phone 201-358-7020 x 22030.

All proceeds go to Stop Hunger Now, an international hunger relief agency whose mission is “To end hunger in our lifetime.” In the spirit of the holiday season, please consider participating in this fundraising activity.
