BOE recognizes robotics team, listens to report
Dr. Sean Struncis, District Supervisor of Guidance, gave the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Report presentation for the 2021-22 school year.
On Monday night, the Pascack Valley Regional High School District Board of Education recognized the Pascack Pi-oneers FIRST Robotics Team and listened to the 2021-22 Self-Assessment Report.
The BOE congratulated the robotics team for the following awards throughout their season:
Mt. Olive FIRST Mid Atlantic District Event
- Excellence in Engineering Award
- Event Finalist Warren Hills FIRST Mid Atlantic District Event
- Engineering Inspiration Award
- Semi-Finalist
FIRST Mid Atlantic District Championship
- Engineering Inspiration Award
- Semi-Finalist
- Dean’s List Finalist – Hills junior Eliza Krigsman
FIRST World Championship
- Engineering Inspiration Award – Johnson Division
- Finalist – Johnson Division
In her monthly report, Superintendent Sarah Bilotti discussed the robotics team sponsor dinner.
“It’s just beyond impressive…I was really so impressed by what I saw and what I heard and how you all comport yourselves both throughout the season, but also at the sponsor night” she said.
BOE President Joseph Blundo added on to Bilotti’s recognition.
“I have been to these presentations before. And yet, today I learned more and I came out even more inspired. It was so impressive to see the health of the organization,” he said.
Dr. Sean Struncis, District Supervisor of Guidance, gave the Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Report presentation for the 2021-22 school year. He shared the results and discussed the district’s emphasis on improving “school climate and culture by creating and implementing programs for students and staff and celebrating the Week of Respect.”
Earlier in the meeting, BOE representative Olivia Ge gave her monthly student report. She discussed student acceptance into the 2023 All-State Mixed Chorus and the 2024 New Jersey All-State Treble Choir. She also discussed district partnership with Montclair State University for a podcasting grant and recent senior athletic achievements.
Kaitlyn Verde is a senior at Hills. She joined the publication her freshman year as a staff writer and edited for the Arts & Entertainment and School News sections her sophomore and junior years, respectively. This year, Verde is excited to be the Trailblazer's Editor-in-Chief alongside Olivia Ge and report for the community with Hills Pride.
Fun fact: Verde enjoys reading in her free time, and her favorite book is "The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue."
