Max Zuckerman breaks pole vaulting records
A Pascack Hills senior and track star, Max Zuckerman is the 2022 Bergen County Champion in pole vault. He has committed to Northeastern University where he will continue to showcase his pole vaulting skills on their team.
Max is an excellent teammate, always wanting to compete in more events to help score points outside of his speciality. He has taken younger vaulters under his wing, passing on the knowledge and wisdom he has gained during his time at Hills.
“Max has continued to improve year after year. He continues to hone his craft and work on his technique. Recently, Max has been focusing on his take off and plant which in turn will translate some of his biggest jumps yet,” Pascack Hills Winter Track Head Coach Mr. Koehler said.
In the midst of another stellar track season for the senior pole vaulter, Zuckerman was named Pascack Hills Athlete of the Week back in early February. Additionally, he was nominated for North Jersey Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
As one of the best pole vaulters in New Jersey, Zuckerman has broken yet another Pascack Hills record. This record was different, though. Max usually breaks records competing individually, but he competed with teammate Ben Mandler this time, together setting the relay indoor pole vaulting record for Hills. Both also won state relays simultaneously.
As a senior, Zuckerman wants to end his high school track career on a high note. He competed at Millrose, the world’s oldest standing track and field meet. The prestigious event was nationally televised.
“It was good to get out there with my teammates and friends and win with all of them. It was nice having a team-wide victory,” Zuckerman said.
Aidan Berson, a senior at Hills, has been a member of the Trailblazer since his freshman year. Before becoming a Sports Editor, he primarily wrote articles for the section during his junior year. This year, Berson is looking forward to keep writing for the Trailblazer and to edit the Sports section with Shaan Dalal.
Fun fact: Berson can touch his tongue to his nose.
Hills senior Ethan Kaufman is excited to be a part of the Trailblazer staff for another year. He wrote for the publication a few times his freshman year but became more involved his junior year as a staff member. This year, Kaufman is looking forward to editing the Arts & Entertainment section and assisting in editing for the Sports section.
Fun fact: Kaufman watched 671 movies in the span of a year.
Hills senior Jordana Brief is eager to be a part of the Trailblazer for another year. She joined the publication her junior year as a staff member and was also on the school's broadcast show, "Bronco's Breakdown." This year, Brief is eager to be a College Corner Editor and Assistant Arts & Entertainment Editor for the publication alongside the other respective editors.
Fun fact: Each person in Brief's family has a different shade of blue eyes.
