Boys Bowling vs. Indian Hills – 7-0 Loss
Boys bowling fell to 1-1 on Dec. 19 in a shutout loss against Indian Hills. Jason Sorrentino bowled a 200 average in the loss.
Girls Bowling vs. Indian Hills – 7-0 Loss
Girls bowling lost their first game of the young season against Indian Hills. Senior Hadyn Hopper bowled the highest average for the Broncos at 153.67, but was fourth overall in the match.
Girls Basketball at Dumont – 58-40 Loss
Girls basketball lost their second straight against Dumont. The Huskies led for most of the game on the way to their first win of the season.
Boys Basketball vs. Dumont – 50-45 Loss
Another close loss for boys basketball came in the home opener against Dumont. Both teams are favorites to win the sectional title, and it was a one-point game at halftime. Dumont pulled away due to a 19-point third quarter. The Broncos dropped to 0-2 after their 57-56 loss to Demarest in the season opener. Fred Herbst scored 24 of the 50 points for the Huskies, while Nick Lukmann and David Weidmuller combined for 32 points.
Pascack Hockey vs. Clifton – 6-5 Loss
Pascack Hockey took their first loss in a close one against Clifton. Clifton scored two goals early, and then Zach Groves scored two goals, including one on a power play, Clifton fired back to go up 5-2. But Austin Groves, Jack Sheehan, and Joseph Dargan scored to force overtime. In overtime, Jonathan Montana scored to give Clifton the win.
Boys Swimming vs. Old Tappan – 95.5-74.5 Win
Harry Fominykh scored two wins in Pascack Swimming’s victory over Old Tappan. Nathan Jeong scored one win while a slew of team victories propelled boys swimming to 2-1.
Girls Swimming vs. Old Tappan – 98-70 Win
Jessica Malocha scored two solo wins and two team wins as girls swimming won their third straight meet. Pascack Swimming won seven out of eleven categories.
Wednesday, Dec. 20
Wrestling at Emerson-Park Ridge – 47-22 Loss
After a seventh place finish in the Wendy Pandy-Leh Invitational, the Broncos got their regular season started with a loss in a dual match against Emerson-Park Ridge. Jake Wacha and Quinn Mercier got the only pins of the match for Hills, while Hassan Shawkat, Dillon Cahill, and Sean Herman won by decision. These wins for Hills were not enough to overcome the wins of EPR, and the Broncos dropped their first match of the year.
Thursday, Dec. 21
Boys Bowling at River Dell – 7-0 Win
An all-around great game from the Broncos led Pascack Hills to a shutout win over River Dell. The Broncos improved to 2-1 with both Jason Sorrentino and Michael Chelney bowling averages over 190.
Girls Bowling vs. River Dell – 5-2 Win
Another great match from Hadyn Hopper led the Broncos to a win over River Dell. Hopper bowled a 165 average as the girls bowling team scored their second win on the year.
Girls Basketball vs. Dwight-Morrow – 51-19 Win
Girls basketball led the entire way in a crushing win over Dwight-Morrow for their first and so far only win on the season. Brianna Arendacs and McKenna Ferrall both scored 14 points in the win.
Boys Basketball at Dwight-Morrow – 67-61 Loss
Dwight-Morrow scored a win over the Broncos on the 21st off of Elijah Thenor’s 21 points. Dwight-Morrow started their season undefeated at 4-0, while the Broncos lost their third straight.
Friday, Dec. 22
Wrestling at Mahwah – 65-12 Win
As Pascack Hills entered its winter break, the wrestling team had some traveling fans show up to Mahwah as the Broncos got their first win of the season. Every match ended in a pin or forfeit except for two Bronco wins, where Mathew Velez and Gabriele Cecere won by decision.
Pascack Hockey at Randolph – 9-2 Loss
The Groves brothers got the only two goals for Pascack Hockey in their loss to Randolph on the 22nd. The loss dropped Pascack to 2-2
Saturday, Dec. 23
Wrestling vs. St. Mary (Rutherford) – 60-13 Win
Wrestling continued their hot streak by winning the first of two legs in a tri-match on the 23rd. Highlighted by quick, back-to-back pins from Jake Wacha and Sean Herman kept the match out of reach from St. Mary who lost their fifth straight.
Wrestling vs. Glen Rock – 57-23 Win
The Bronco wrestling team went into Christmas happy, as they won three straight with this win over Glen Rock. Another quick pin from Jake Wacha and Patrick Rotella’s 32 second pin won the match for Hills.
Girls Basketball at Passaic Valley – 32-26 Loss
A close loss for girls basketball came on Dec. 23, as the Broncos dropped to 1-3 in a game against Passaic Valley.
Wednesday, Dec. 27
Girls Basketball vs. Lyndhurst (New Milford Holiday Winter Classic) – 33-24 Loss
This past Wednesday saw the beginning of the holiday tournament season for Bronco basketball. The girls basketball team lost to Lyndhurst in their tournament opener. Lyndhurst dominated the game, and Brooke Harper’s 13 points were too much for the Broncos to overcome.
Boys Basketball vs. Cresskill (All Groups Tournament) – 51-40 Win
Boys basketball defeated group 1 opponents Cresskill in the All Groups Tournament semifinal. Nick Lukmann and David Weidmuller scored a combined 39 points in the Broncos first win of the season.
Pascack Hockey at Ridgewood (Steve Jaskot Memorial Tournament) – 4-0 Loss
Pascack Hockey was shut out in their first tournament game against Ridgewood. The loss dropped Pascack to 2-3.
Thursday, Dec. 28
Girls Basketball vs. Demarest (New Milford Holiday Winter Classic) – 63-27 Loss
Girls basketball lost to Demarest again in their holiday tournament. Angie Tirado scored 23 points as the Norsemen improved to 4-2. The Broncos fell to 1-5, and they will start the new year on the back foot.
Friday, Dec. 29
Boys Basketball vs. Northern Highlands (All Groups Tournament) – 57-43 Loss
The Broncos lost their fourth of five in 2023 with a 57-43 loss to group 3 school Northern Highlands. In a game that the Highlanders dominated, starting point guard Lucas Dipasupil scored 22.
Saturday, Dec. 30
Pascack Hockey vs. Clifton (Steve Jaskot Memorial Tournament) – 10-2 Win
Pascack Hockey got their revenge for a close loss to Clifton earlier this season with a crushing 10-2 defeat of the Mustangs. Austin Groves’s four goals, along with Justin Yoo’s first career goal highlighted the game for Pascack Hockey. Zach Groves and Owen Dargan scored two, and Jack Sheehan scored one.
