Softball at Indian Hills – 7-3 Loss
The three-game winning streak for softball came to an end at the hands of Indian Hills on Monday. This is softball’s second loss to Indian Hills this season, a team with 11 wins.
Tuesday, Apr. 23
Baseball vs. Mahwah – 5-4 Win
Baseball got their second consecutive 5-4 win, this time over divisional opponents Mahwah. Anthony Blackford started the game for Hills but was quickly replaced by Arion Stern who was credited with the win. Jake Buonanno pitched a 96-pitch complete game but was credited with a loss. Ronin Stern led the Broncos at the plate, going two for two with a home run.
Boys Tennis vs. Westwood – 3-2 Win
Hills boys tennis continued their undefeated streak in the Big North Patriot Division with a close win over Westwood. Connor Wong won the only singles match for Hills while the Broncos won both doubles matches to win the overall match.
Wednesday, Apr. 24
Girls Golf vs. Northern Highlands – 200-232 Loss
Another loss for the new girls golf team has them at 0-4. Northern Highlands is 10-3 and placed in all of the top 5 slots.
Baseball at Mahwah – 6-5 Loss
Mahwah split the series with Pascack Hills baseball with a close win at their park on Wednesday. Andrew Streim started the game but only pitched 1.2 innings. He was credited with the loss and was relieved by Emerson Cho and Corey Ginsberg. At the plate, it was Kyle Wenckus once again leading the Broncos with a two-hit day.
Softball vs. Ramsey – 13-3 Loss
Ramsey had only been beaten once this season and not in divisional play. That streak continued with a crushing win over the Broncos in Montvale on Wednesday. Hills dropped to 4-6 and 2-4 in division.
Girls Lacrosse vs. DePaul – 13-6 Loss
Girls lacrosse got their season back underway after a five-day break with a loss against a once-defeated DePaul Catholic team. Nikki Giammanco and Sloane Irizarry both scored two goals, but it was not enough to defeat the Spartans. Hills dropped to 1-3 in the NJIGLL American Red Division.
Thursday, Apr. 25
Boys Golf vs. Don Bosco Prep – 149-191 Loss
Don Bosco is 10-1; they had two golfers shoot three under par and defeated the Broncos on Thursday. Dylan Sawyer tied for third for Pascack Hills scoring five over par. Boys golf dropped to 0-6.
Baseball vs. Paramus Catholic – 11-8 Win
Joe Napolitano scored his first varsity win with D’Angelo Rodriguez and Ewan Colgan cleaning up Paramus Catholic. At the plate, Matt Tortora went 2-3 and led Hills.
Boys Tennis vs. Mahwah – 5-0 Win
Boys tennis upped their winning streak to three matches with another divisional win over Mahwah this time. Every match was won by Hills, who will look towards a big matchup with Bergen Tech on Monday.
Girls Lacrosse at Fair Lawn – 9-3 Loss
Girls lacrosse lost their second straight divisional game to Fair Lawn. They are now 3-7 and 1-4 in their division, sitting in seventh place.
Friday, Apr. 26
Softball at Ramapo (Bergen County Tournament, First Round) – 20-10 Loss
Softball had a tough matchup waiting for them in the form of the sixth seeded Ramapo in the first round of the Bergen County Tournament. The game ended after five innings, with two Ramapo batters going 3-3 from the plate.
Boys Lacrosse at Fair Lawn – 8-7 Loss
In a rematch of the matchup that decided who would be last year’s NJILL Cullen Division champions, the opposite result was true of the Bronco-Cutter rivalry. Fair Lawn continued to be undefeated, but the Broncos came very close to knocking them off of that pedestal. Hills is 5-3 and 3-2 in division.
Saturday, Apr. 27
Baseball vs. Teaneck – 13-3 Win
Eddie Mulligan relieved Andrew Streim early and only had to pitch four innings as the Broncos wasted no time in defeating Teaneck on Saturday. The five-inning affair saw Kyle Wenckus go 2-2 from the plate and saw catcher Anthony Blackford hit a home run in the 13-3 win.
Softball at Waldwick (Coaches vs. Cancer) – 11-3 Loss
In the annual Coaches vs. Cancer event held at Memorial Park in Park Ridge, the Hills softball team could not get out of their slump. Hills’ fourth straight loss has them at 4-8 on the year.
