Girls Soccer
Girls soccer had important games this week, with the outcomes deciding where they will be in the County Tournament, starting Saturday 10/11. This past Monday, the Broncos faced the River Dell Hawks, tying the them 1-1 in double overtime. The goal was scored by freshman, Addy Zoelle. On Wednesday, October 8th, the girls took on the 12-0 Ramsey Rams, losing 7-1. The goal was scored by junior Keira Hickey on a penalty kick in the first half. The Broncos held Ramsey to four goals in the first half, thanks to a tremendous effort by freshman goalie, Regan Hickey, with a total of 15 saves throughout the game.
Boys soccer
The boys took on River Dell to start off the week. They lost, 2-0, with River Dell scoring both goals in the second half. Later in the week, on Wednesday, the boys faced Ramsey. Hills lost 4-1, with their goal being scored by junior Tyler Vandenberghe. The boys last game of the week was on Friday, and they lost to the Paramus Spartans, 3-4, in the Bergen Invitational Tournament. The Broncos’ record is now 1-11-1.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team is on a strong run through the Girls Tennis State Tournament. On Monday, they beat the seventh-seeded Park Ridge Owls in the quarterfinal match. Senior Camilla Ambrocio beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in two consecutive sets. Hills won all three singles matches and both doubles, sweeping the Owls 5-0. After the Broncos faced the Owls, they also swept the Westwood Cardinals the next day. Senior Stephanie Yeung beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1 in two consecutive sets to win the match. Later in the week the Broncos played third-seeded Cresskill in the semifinal round. Although Hills lost the first two singles, senior Carla Monaco beat her opponent 6-0,6-1. Both doubles matches were won by Hills to clinch a 3-2 victory and a spot in the sectional final. To finish the week, the Broncos had a de-facto league title game this week against Mahwah. Hills lost 5-0. Their record is now 11-4.
Volleyball
The Broncos started off their week strong, as they defeated the Mahwah Thunderbirds 2-0 on their Senior Night. Senior Brooke Sawyer carried the offensive side with 9 kills. On the defensive side Senior Kayli Pieratos had 7 digs. To start off their Bergen County Tournament, on Thursday, they beat 20th seed Fort Lee in three straight sets 3-0. Eva Myers had a great game on the offensive side with 19 kills. Freshman Valentina Polanco also had a great game with 15 digs. On Saturday, Hills continued their journey in the tournament, facing fourth-seeded Demarest in the Round of 16. Hills lost in three straight sets, but each one was within at least six points.
Gymnastics
The Gymnastics team has had an amazing season so far, with their record being 8-0. They started their week on Tuesday 10/7, with a win against Passaic Valley (103.775-61.7). Freshman Kylie Devincenzo had the highest all around score for the meet, 35.5. Their next meet was Thursday, and they beat Ridgewood to remain undefeated (103.075-97.525). Junior Hope Gasperino was the highest all around score for the combined Pascack Hills-Pascack Valley effort, with a score of 34.85.
Football
This past Friday, the Broncos beat Dover High School 42-7. Senior Gavin Ulanday had 223 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior Jake Bruh also had a great game with 160 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. With this win the Broncos improved their record to 2-4. Next week, the Broncos will prepare for their senior night on Friday 10/17, taking on the 5-1 Dumont Huskies.
