The Pink Out Football Game on Friday, October 17, was one to remember. The atmosphere was incredible, with many students dressing up in pink to support breast-cancer awareness and the Pascack Hills Football Team.
This was also the final regular season home game; it was Senior Night to honor the many seniors that comprise Broncos football. The ceremony acknowledged the football, cheerleading, and marching band seniors, and their families as they walked onto the field. Those commended then took a picture under a decorated balloon display, and joined their peers as they prepared for a tough game against the Dumont Huskies.
Dumont went up early with a touchdown from Eric Orso. The Huskies attempted a two-point conversion but came up empty. Jake Bruh quickly answered back with a kick return touchdown. The Broncos were able to go up 7-6 with the help of George Harcher nailing the extra point. Jake Bruh was able to put more points on the board for Hills through a rushing touchdown out of the wildcat. Harcher nailed yet another PAT as he put the Broncos up 14-6. Quarterback Michael Gil of the Dumont Huskies quickly answered the following drive by dumping a pass off to his running back Onyx Trinidad for another touchdown for Dumont. The Huskies went for two points again and converted with a completed pass to Eric Orso. Trinidad put up yet another rushing touchdown for the Huskies putting them up 22-14 at the half.
Halftime festivities included the well-known cheerleading performance by the Broncos Cheerleading Team and display by the Marching Broncos.
Shortly after the halftime spectacles concluded, Gavin Ulanday, star running back for the Broncos, quickly brought his team just one point short of Dumont, at a score of 22-21. The first play of the fourth quarter Miles Donald found Logan LaRose in the back right corner of the end zone. The Huskies elected to go for two again and were able to go up 30-21. Pascack Hills was able to get down the field one more time and Liam Cozza, quarterback, punter, and now kicker, was able to drill a field goal, making the score 30-24. The game ended with a score of 30-24, as the Huskies were able to hold off the Broncos.
