Girls Soccer
The girls had another exciting week, with games being played for the Bergen County Tournament. They started off their week on Tuesday 10/14 with a 1-0 win against Demarest. In the nailbitter match, junior Morgan York scored a goal off of senior Amelie Ruocco’s corner kick. With this win, the girls tore through the tournament to make it to the quarter finals, which was played on Saturday, 10/18 against Hasbrouck Heights.
Boys soccer
The boys started off their week with their senior night win against Dumont, on Wednesday 10/15. They beat Dumont 4-2, with sophomore Kolby Shell scoring a goal and having an assist. With the Broncos offense already having a good game, the defensive side came through with senior goalie Vazyl Adams having 8 saves. The boys are set to advance in the tournament with this crucial win.
Volleyball
The Broncos kicked off their week on Tuesday 10/14 with a shutout win, in two sets, against Demarest, who they previously had trouble with. Senior Avery Maloney stood out on the defensive side with 5 kills, and on the defensive side the Broncos accumulated 31 digs for the whole game. The girls continued their week with a close loss against River Dell losing in two sets on Thursday 10/16. The Broncos were fighting hard, only losing by a few points in each set, but they couldn’t pull through. Melis Ture had a great game, despite the loss with 3 kills and 11 digs. Eva Myers also had a game high of 9 kills for the lady Broncos.
Girls Tennis
The Broncos played the championship match in the Girl Tennis Tournament, North Jersey, on Tuesday 10/14. The Broncos lost to undefeated Glen Rock in the final match of the tournament. Glen Rock shut out the Broncos 5-0 winning all singles and doubles. The next day, Wednesday 10/15, the girls played Pascack Valley and River Dell. The Broncos lost to Valley, 4-1 with Abby Javer and Gabi Josic winning their doubles match 6-4, 6-3. Although the Broncos lost to Valley, they beat River Dell 4-1 later in the day. Senior Camilla Ambrocio won her match 6-3,7-5 to start the Broncos off strong.
Gymnastics
The undefeated Broncos kept their streak going this week with a win against Randolph 105.3-96.675 on Tuesday 10/14. Hills top performers from the appearance against Randolph were Kylie Devincenzo and Hope Gasperino at the top of the leaderboard for Hills. However, Hills came in second in the meet, with undefeated Mount Olive beating the Broncos and dominating the leaderboard where they lost 105.3-112.225.
Football
The Broncos lost in a tough game against Dumont this Friday 10/17, 24-30. Seniors Gavin Ulanday and Jake Bruh stuck out on the offensive end with Bruh having 80 rushing yards and Ulanday having 55. Each of them scored a touchdown for the Broncos. Senior Alex Lulla also had 48 receiving yards to keep the offense going. Although the game didn’t fall in the Broncos favor, they still put up a strong fight against 7-1 Dumont.
Cross Country
The cross country has had a good run with their season coming to an end, with only two meets left on their schedule. The Broncos had a Bergen County Group Championship meet on Saturday 10/18. The varsity boys finished 8th in Group C. Senior Tyler Lovett was ranked the highest for the Broncos and placed 17th out of 69 players in the group. His time was 17:57 for the 5000 meter finals. The varsity girls finished 9th in Group C, and senior Nina Indugula was the highest ranker for the girls. Her time was 24:22 for the 5000 meter finals. She was 37th out of the 67 runners. Then, the freshman boys placed 7th in Frosh Pod 2, with Miles Jarvis doing well, placing 15th out of 98 runners. His time was 9:41 for the 2800 meter run finals.
