Star Wars fans, raise your hands
Many movies are being made that both moviegoers and non-moviegoers are looking forward to. While some of these movies, such as Marvel and DC movies, will be released in the next few years, there is one that is highly anticipated throughout the world, and it is being released on December 20, 2019. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Episode 9 of the Star Wars saga is set to be one of the highest-grossing movies of all time, and millions of people couldn’t be more excited.
“Thrilled,” Star Wars enthusiast Aidan Berson exclaimed. “There’s been so much leading up to this movie over the last 40 years and this is the conclusion of all that. I think it’s going to exceed anybody’s expectations,” Berson continued.
Released on May 25, 1977, the first installment of the Star Wars original trilogy, A New Hope, had only an $11 million budget. As the movie franchise got more popular, and technology advanced the movies became higher quality, and the budget for the upcoming film was $200 million.
“My dad has been a fan of Star Wars since he was young, and he saw the original movie in theaters,” sophomore Ryan Giammanco said. “As I grew up, he passed his love of these movies onto me and my brother.”
Before the new trilogy of Star Wars movies, first being released in 2015, there hadn’t been a new Star Wars movie since 2005. Teenagers would have been very young, or not born, when the last movie came out. Now, teens will be able to grow up with the new movies, and experience what it was like for their parents to see the originals in theaters.
On the contrary, not everybody shares the same love of Star Wars as others.
“I am a huge fan of action movies, but Star Wars just doesn’t do it for me,” sophomore Zach Ginsberg complained. “Half of the movie is just the characters talking about their plan to either blow something up or cut something in half.”
This is a main criticism of the Star Wars movies. For people who haven’t seen any of the Star Wars movies, they may not understand what’s going on.
However, most people who are willing to watch all the movies don’t notice these criticisms.
