At their meeting on Monday night, the Pascack Valley Regional High School District Board of Education approved the appointment of the permanent superintendent for the district, Sarah Bilotti. She will officially start in her new position on July 1.
“I’m so excited to be working with all of you [the BOE] and all of you [the students],” Bilotti said, motioning to the table of BOE members and students sitting in the audience.
On Friday, BOE president Joseph Blundo sent an email to the district announcing Bilotti’s appointment. She is currently the superintendent in Blairstown for the North Warren Regional School District and previously held positions as principal, assistant principal, and director of special services.
Interim superintendent Daniel Fishbein will continue to serve in this position until the end of the 2021-22 school year.
When the BOE opened to the public for comments about agenda items, Montvale resident Carolee Adams expressed concern about the amount of time between Blundo’s announcement of Bilotti’s appointment and BOE approval. In response, Blundo said that they “aren’t going to get into each candidate’s background.”
Earlier in the meeting, Blundo recognized student achievements within the district.
Fifty-six students from Pascack Hills were acknowledged for earning the New Jersey State and Global Seals of Biliteracy, which were presented during the Celebrate Languages ceremony in December of 2021.

The Pascack Valley Regional Dance Team was commended for becoming the 2022 Dance Team Union National Champions in small varsity pom and placing second in the large varsity team performance. Hills students that are on the team are sophomores Zoe Grabow and Ilira Memija.
One final item that was covered during the meeting is the school climate survey. Mark Russo, supervisor of diversity, equity & inclusion, said that it will be administered to students in the district on April 12-14 during physical education classes. It will be optional and all responses are anonymous.
