Junior Emily Sailer scored her 100th lacrosse goal against Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest. This achievement happened on Wednesday, May 18, where her efforts also helped the Pascack Hills varsity lacrosse team secure the league title.

When asked about this accomplishment, Sailer said, “I’m so happy I achieved this milestone because it has been a big goal of mine. However, I would not have been able to score my 100th goal without my amazing teammates and extremely supportive coaches.”

Although Sailer has definitely contributed largely to her team, she appreciates the support of those around her. To score 100 goals, she even acknowledges it as a team effort, rather than something she could’ve done alone.

“While my team played, we always made sure we didn’t rush to the goal. This allowed us to run our set plays and get the ball in the back of the net,” she said.

Clearly, Sailer felt pride and happiness about this achievement, but her coaches and teammates felt the same way. When she officially scored her 100th goal, her team even congratulated her with a poster made prior to the game.

Coach Lindsey Jachens said, “We are so incredibly proud of Emily for reaching this milestone. Scoring 100 goals in two seasons is an impressive feat. This accomplishment is symbolic of all of the hard work Emily has put into lacrosse since she first picked up the sport.”

She noted that Sailer was unable to play lacrosse her freshman year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and expressed that this milestone was especially impressive after only playing for two seasons.

In the end, Sailer’s achievement has become a large part of her athletic career at Pascack Hills. Although this was a personal accomplishment, Sailer attributes much of the success to her peers.
