1. Walter Scott Shooting

On April 4, Michael Slager, a white South Carolina police officer, pulled over Walter Scott, an African American male. The incident started as a traffic stop, but after an altercation, the Scott started to flee and Slager fired eight shots into Scott’s back, killing him. Michael Slager has been charged with murder.

2. Germanwings Plane Crash

On March 24, Andreas Lubitz, the co-pilot of a Germanwings airbus carrying 150 people, locked his captain out of the cockpit and initiated the descent of the plane. The plane crashed in the Alps, killing everyone onboard. Investigators believe that this was a premeditated suicide by Lubitz, who was struggling with depression.

3. Tunisian Museum Attack

Three terrorists attacked the Bardo National Museum in the capital of Tunisia on March 18. The attack killed 22 people and injured around 50 more, making it the deadliest terror attack in the country’s history. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack.

4. Ex-Blackwater Guards Sentencing

Four ex-Blackwater guards were recently sentenced to prison for a 2007 mass shooting that took place in Nusoor Square, Iraq. According to the FBI, 14 of the 17 deaths that occurred were unjustified. Three of the guards received terms of 30 years each, and one received a life sentence.

5. Hillary Clinton Presidential Announcement

On April 12, Hillary Clinton announced that she is running for president in the 2016 elections. She is regarded as a favorite to win the Democratic presidential nomination. If she wins the Democratic presidential nomination and goes on to become the president, she would be the first woman in history to do so.
