PHHS Fall Sports Preview

Great News! The Fall Sports Season is underway! The season offers many exciting rivalries and intense matchups. Here is preview of this fall sports season’s top players and key games.

 

Boy’s Soccer: The boy’s soccer team this year is looking strong after a tough 2014 campaign. With a good amount of returning starters and many players with varsity experience, it looks like the Cowboys should be in the hunt for a league title.

Last Year’s Record: 5-11

Rivals: Westwood and Ramsey

Key Players: Evan Lazarus, T.J. Calderone, Chris Souflis, Joe Henni, Kyle Piccirillo

 

Girl’s Soccer: The Cowgirl soccer squad is hoping to have another winning season. Coach Ernest has the girls getting better everyday. After losing a handful of seniors, the girls are on a quest for a league and state sectional title in 2015.

Last Year’s Record: 11-7-5

Rivals: Ramsey

Key Players: Leigh Sircacusano, Shayla Unger, Eleni Starvis, Erica Bardes, Mackenzie Catherwood, Allie Ernest

 

Football: After losing a very large group of seniors, the cowboys are faced with a very young and inexperienced team this year. Inexperience doesn’t necessarily mean untalented, the football team is looking sharp and is ready to chase a second straight league title.

Last Year’s Record: 6-4

Rivals: Ramsey and Westwood

Key Players: Nick Garcia, John Aquaviva, Jin-Woo Kim, Deven Deppert, Christian Piantino, Jake Cortazzo

 

Volleyball: After having an outstanding season in 2014, the Cowgirls are back with some new faces and an explosive group of dominant seniors. Coach McDonald has them ready to prove that they can compete with the best in the Big North and perhaps capture the prestigious state title. It hasn’t been done since 2009.

Last Year’s Record: 22-4

Rivals: River Dell

Key Players: Rachel Morgan, Jamie Spelling, Reilly Neville, Melissa Pierro, Courtney Welyczko, Hannah Sarakin

 

Cross Country: Cross Country lost a very large group of seniors. They do not look at this year as a rebuilding year but rather a chance to showcase their unbelievable potential. Be on the lookout for a surprise year.
