Gianna Lucido accepted into All-State Mixed Choir

Junior Gianna Lucido was recently accepted into the New Jersey All-State Mixed Choir. Lucido was the only Hills student to be accepted.
Out of all who audition, the top scoring singers are accepted to the Mixed Choir and the next ranking of singers are accepted into Treble Choir. The Mixed Choir, which Lucido is in, has over 200 singers.
This is a huge achievement for Lucido, who has been singing for 12 years. She said singing “is a way I can escape anything that’s happening and also be able to do what I love.”
Hills Choral Director, Margarita Elkin, said, “Gianna is talented and hard-working, with natural musicianship. The judges clearly saw that too, and she will be an asset to the choir.”
Principal Glenn DeMarrais also congratulated Lucido after hearing about her acceptance:
Lucido also auditioned for National Choir and is waiting to hear back. She said, “It’s something that I would never have imagined being able to do. It’s surreal and unexpected to think that it’s possible to come this far.”
Hanna is a senior, and this is her fourth and final year working for The Trailblazer. An editor-in-chief last year, Hanna has worked through the ranks to become Managing Editor, and has taught a few on her way up. Although she’s sad to see it go, she’s ready to work hard this year.
