Lauren Brown approved as new head softball coach
She previously served as a coach for the Tenafly High School softball and club teams and the North Jersey Vipers.
On Aug. 15, Broncos head Coach Erin Curatola announced her resignation and the search for a new head coach began. During the Sept. 19 Board of Education meeting, Lauren Brown was approved as the new softball head coach.
Pascack Hills senior and softball player Alana Kimball said, “I’m really excited to meet our new coach, get to work with the entire team, and see what we can accomplish this season.”
Brown is currently a special education teacher at Fieldstone Middle School.
She started her softball journey in kindergarten and continued to play while attending River Dell High School and also was a pitcher at The College of New Jersey. Upon graduation, Brown served as a coach for the Tenafly High School softball and club teams and the North Jersey Vipers.
Her major goals for the team are to form mutual respect between players and coaches, create lasting bonds, and become a coach that inspires her team. She would also like to build on the idea that softball is more than just a game.
“I think that Coach Kirkby [former coach, Erin Curatola-Kirkby] has formed a really great foundation for this program, so I would like to continue to build on that while also incorporating my own ideas and philosophies as well,” Brown said.
Brown is eager to work with the team and incorporate all of her ideas into the program.
“I think that Pascack Hills will be a wonderful place for me to advance my career and really leave my mark on Bergen County softball,” Brown said.
