On Aug. 15, the resignation of Broncos head softball coach Erin Curatola was announced via @PHathletics on Twitter. The tweet revealed that Curatola decided to step down as head coach and the school is looking for her replacement.

During a Google Meet on July 21, Curatola and her assistant coaches, Tara Delmour and Michael Curatola, informed the players that they would not be returning as coaches. She also sent an email to players and parents following the meet with more information about the resignation.

I am at a point now when I can really no longer balance being the coach I want to be with the mom that I want to be. This past season was incredibly challenging in that regard…With our new addition, I know that it will no longer be possible for me to coach the way that I want, and quite frankly, the way you all deserve,” she said in the email.

— Erin Curatola, former Hills softball coach

The “new addition” that Curatola is referring to is her newest child who was born shortly after this email, on Aug. 4.

Curatola expressed that although she no longer has the time to be a fully committed coach, she still will continue to support the members of the Pascack Hills softball program.

“I am always a phone call or text away,” she said.

Avery Marques, rising senior and Hills softball player, said, “I loved having her as a coach and I will miss her support and dedication she has shown me during my softball career.”

During her 14 years at Hills, Curatola contributed to the addition of the softball field on campus and the first softball league title since 1975.

“It has been, without question, one of the most challenging, fun, and rewarding experiences in my life and I have all of you to thank for that…I feel genuinely fortunate to be able to step away from this with such positive memories, feelings, and such great momentum moving forward,” she said.
