As the weather cools down, everyone is itching to get outside or plan a cozy night in with friends and family. However, one major dilemma everyone faces with these desires is where to start. Well, no need to fret, here is a list of fan-favorite fall activities!

Visit an apple orchard

Visits to orchards are a popular and fun thing to do during the fall time. The colors of the apples can range from dark green to orange, bright pink, and even a combination depending on the variety. Combined with the changing leaves, the scenery is breathtaking. So, even if you are not the biggest apple fan, it could double as an amazing fall photoshoot and experience. This activity is best done with family or friends!

Roast chestnuts

Next to pumpkins, chestnuts are the typical flavor of fall. They crumble in your mouth, leaving a delicious and slightly sweet flavor with a soft texture similar to sweet potato. Chestnuts can be easily roasted in the oven. They can be enjoyed on their own or as an after-dinner treat! It is also a great simple side dish that’s perfect for Thanksgiving! Sip warm apple cider

Apple cider is the perfect drink to enjoy during the chilly days of fall. This drink can be used for harvest parties, fall festivities, and even backyard bonfires! You can buy it from the store or make it from scratch by placing apples in a pot and covering them with water before mixing in cinnamon, allspice, and sugar. It is so easy to make from scratch!

Take a bike ride

Enjoy the outdoor spirit of autumn by taking a bike ride through picturesque and scenic routes. Feel the chilly breeze on your face while witnessing the breathtaking transformation of foliage, and relish in the natural beauty that surrounds you. Cycling during fall is an immersive experience that allows you to connect with nature and enjoy the refreshing energy of the season.

Make a gratitude journal

Gratitude should be a year-round thing, but it’s especially important in the season of giving thanks. Start each morning by listing five things in a journal that you’re grateful for. It can be as simple as connecting with a friend over text. Or, it can be enjoying a heartwarming movie on television. There is always something to be grateful for!

Visit a pumpkin patch

There is no better thing to do in the fall than to go pumpkin picking! It is one of the most exciting fall things to do because hunting for pumpkins, taking a hayride, and going through a corn maze will remind you of all the good things that come with fall. A trip to the pumpkin patch will get you into the fall and Halloween spirit and make you want to do this every year!

Take a fall foliage drive

Foretelling the coming of fall foliage is a tricky endeavor, but well worth the effort if you want to see the colorful dance of stunning reds, yellows, and oranges. This color extravaganza is particularly breathtaking, so you may want to pack binoculars, strap your hiking boots, and get your camera ready to fire up your Instagram feed with an explosion of fiery fall colors! The best time to take a drive is at the end of September through mid-to-late October.

Have a movie night

Get cozy inside or in your backyard with a festive fall or scary Halloween movie! And if you want to really get into the Halloween spirit, why not try out some frightening flicks like “Nightmare Before Christmas,” “The Addams Family,” “Hocus Pocus,” “Ghostbusters,” “Friday the 13th,” or “Beetlejuice.” These could be a perfect night-in plan with either family or friends!

Cozy up by the fireplace

Looking for a fascinating new read? Here are some great fall books that you enjoy during the autumn, including “The Ex Hex,” “Kingdom of the Wicked,” “The Guest List,” “Mexican Gothic,” “The Dead Romantics,” and “Home Before Dark.” These are great fall reads that you can enjoy while cozying up by the fireplace!

Carving pumpkins

Pumpkin carving has been an autumn favorite for centuries. Getting together a group of friends or family to make funny or scary faces is an awesome way to kick off the season! Pumpkins can be bought at a pumpkin patch such as Demarest Farms in Hillsdale, N.J., or simply at Wegmans in the front of the store. This activity is great for everyone of any age; little kids can paint pumpkins instead of carving to avoid any injuries and older kids can enjoy getting creative with their friends. You can even host a pumpkin carving competition for extra fun! No matter how you choose to go about it, pumpkin carving is without a doubt a fun and classic way to enjoy the chilly weather!
