Kylie Jenner Kontroversy

Kylie+Jenner+Kontroversy

Editor’s Note: The following is an opinion-editorial.

Correction: Amanda Stenberg has been changed to read Amandla Stenberg.

Kylie Jenner, reality-show-star-turned-model, has been all over the news lately, but not for good reasons. Everything you hear about her is some sort of new scandal, from drama with her 26-year old boyfriend Tyga, to her lip injections, and everything in between.

Kylie is constantly criticized. It seems like a lot for an 18-year old to handle, and yet she keeps putting herself in the line of fire. Recently, Jenner modeled for a photoshoot in which she posed in a wheelchair. Without a disability, posing for pictures in a wheelchair seems a bit like glamorizing, or mocking, disabilities, doesn’t it?

On top of this, Jenner is consistently attacked for cultural appropriation and never learns her lesson. Jenner posted multiple pictures posing with cornrows and dreadlocks, hairstyles typically representative of black culture. Even after being confronted by celebrities like Amandla Stenberg and an angry mob of media, Kylie simply did it again!

After the issues regarding her hair, Jenner posed under a black light, which made her skin appear much darker. This was yet another instance that joined together the angry social justice bloggers and sent them to war in Kylie’s Instagram comments.

These are not the only scandals Jenner has been involved in. Kylie and her boyfriend, 26-year-old rapper Tyga, are always involved in some sort of mess. Recently, Tyga was caught texting a 14-year-old girl in an inappropriate manner, and Jenner posted a snapchat story making fun of the young girl. Mature. Every headline about the couple mentions the major age gap or some affair Tyga is involved in.

At just 18, Kylie Jenner has been handed the opportunity to be something great. She has beauty, money and influence and so far, all she’s done with it is offend everyone and get herself into a seemingly abusive relationship.
