Whether it’s beaches, campsites, restaurants, or shopping malls, here’s the latest on reopening in New Jersey.
New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced that the state would begin entering Stage Two of reopening on June 15, citing improvements in Covid-19 hospitalizations, ventilator use, and new cases. Here’s the latest on everything you need to know about Covid-19 in the area and what’s reopened, restricted, or still closed –– updated with the most recent information:

REOPENING OR RESTRICTIONS LOOSENING SOON
- Raise limits on indoor gatherings for religious services: the weekend of June 12
- Child care centers: June 15
- Outdoor dining: June 15
- Limited indoor non-essential retail: June 15
- In-person customer services at the Motor Vehicle Commission: June 15
- Limited personal care including barbershops and salons: June 22
- Non-contact organized sports: June 22
- Limited fitness centers, gyms, health clubs: TBD, after June 22

REOPENED OR RESTRICTIONS LOOSENED AS OF JUNE 5
Outdoor recreational businesses and activities: at most 25 individuals, including:
- Public and private recreational campgrounds
- Charter and fishing boats
- Outdoor batting cages
- Watercraft rentals
- Driving ranges
- Batting cages
- Golf driving ranges
- Shooting and archery ranges
- Horseback riding
- Private tennis clubs
- All-terrain vehicles and dirtbike
- Community gardens
- Beaches and boardwalks (see the CLOSED OR RESCHEDULED section for limits)
Stores, dealerships, and other indoor businesses and activities: at most ten individuals, including:
- In-person sales at car and motorcycle dealerships and bicycle shops
- Non-essential construction
- Non-essential retail stores with curbside pickup
- Restroom facilities at parks with frequent and proper cleaning
Medical practices and procedures, including:
- Elective surgical and other invasive procedures
Gatherings of vehicles: social distancing required and must stay in car, including:
- Drive-in movies
- Drive-in church services
- Drive-by graduations
CLOSED OR RESCHEDULED
Certain close-contact activities at beaches and boardwalks, including:
- Special events
- Playgrounds
- Rides
- Arcades and games
- Water fountains
- Picnic areas
- Water play equipment
