    2013: The Comeback Year

It seems like each week there is a new single on the radio from the usual suspects: Rihanna, Pitbull, fun., and more. But 2013 has ended up being a refreshing year for the music industry because performers that have been on hiatus are returning in full force. Here are some of the familiar voices you’ll be listening to again this year:

    David Bowie:

After years away from the public spotlight and rumors of health problems, this music legend is planning on releasing his first new album in ten years, The Next Day. Famous for his skill at shaking up his image while remaining completely himself, Bowie shocked and excited music lovers with the unexpected and sudden release of new singles on iTunes. If pre-release reviews are to be trusted, this is supposed to be a return for the ages.

    Daft Punk:

This DJ duo, one of the first acts to popularize EDM, recently spent time creating the soundtrack for the movie Tron: Legacy, but hasn’t come out with an album since 2005. After previous rumors that they would premiere new music sometime this year, a mysterious ad on Saturday Night Live suggested that these robot suit enthusiasts could be back on the radio as soon as this spring. We haven’t heard any of their new songs or even know what the new album is called, but whatever Daft Punk releases will be certainly well received.

    Justin Timberlake:

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, Justin Timberlake is releasing his third studio album, The 20/20 Experience, this month. It already has a popular single Suit and Tie that has put him back on the top of the charts and with Timberlake going on tour with Jay-Z this summer, expect him to be put his full efforts into his music for at least the next year.

    Black Sabbath:

Before Ozzy Osbourne was famous for being on reality TV, he helped pioneer heavy metal as the front man of this band. He hasn’t released an album with his former band mates since 1978, so expect rock fans to go back on the crazy train this year.

Along with other musical artists making a splash later this year, like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, expect to include these acts in your soundtrack for 2013.
