The well-known, high-ranking State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton in Vestal, NY is just as it is cracked up to be! When I visited a couple of weeks ago, I was surprised to see how beautiful the campus was, because I had never heard anyone say anything about how it looked since they could not stop talking up the many programs they offer.
With almost 12,500 total undergraduate students, SUNY Binghamton has practically any major that you could want from a variety of cultural studies, to a wide variety of education programs, or physical sciences. Despite what program you may choose to pursue, a huge value that Binghamton holds is the importance of research. So, whether you are studying English or History or a lab science, this school has almost every undergrad student involved in some form of research, which is very important when preparing for the real world!
Not only are their programs constantly evolving and becoming more involved with research, but their campus itself has been growing! When I visited, there were several new residence halls being built to replace older ones. These new halls, in my opinion, all looked so modern and, well, new! But it’s of course not a bad thing if you are not housed in these new hotel-looking halls, because all of the other residence halls are also big and comfortable. Every hall is like it’s own community, where residents have their own exclusive events as a group, withhold traditions of past residents, and other fun things like customize the windows with colorful designs (as I had seen on Hunter Hall).
From exciting residence life to great research activities to a wonderful campus, SUNY Binghamton is a school that is surely the best value, as they call themselves.
