    Senior Close-Up: Bryan Kist

It’s been a great year for Bryan Kist.

He finished off his final bowling season as one of Bergen County’s best bowlers. As the bowling team’s anchor, Kist led our school to a league championship and individually finished third in the North Jersey Singles Classic. The team captain and four-year varsity player was also named the North Jersey Bowler of the Year and Second Team All State.

Kist was also selected to play French horn for the prestigious Bergen County Band this year, where a mix of the best musicians in the county are brought together to perform after a few short rehearsals. He also plays in the local Ridgewood Concert Band, a talented ensemble of amateur musicians with a love for music. Kist is one of the very few high school students that perform with this selective group. In regards to his plans for playing in college, Kist says, “I’ll most definitely play in the concert band and depending on how much time I have, I’ll hopefully be playing in the symphony orchestra as well!”

And looking forward, Bryan will be attending the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY. He has been accepted into the university’s honors biology program, where he will be studying to be a doctor. When asked about how he feels about graduating, Kist said, “I’ll definitely miss the friendships that I’ve made with everyone at Hills, but I’m really looking forward to the freedom of the entire college experience. I’m also excited for the basketball games!”

As a veteran senior, Kist would like to offer a few words of advice to the current junior class about next year. “Just stay focused and really try hard for the first half of senior year. It honestly makes the college decision process a lot easier!”

Bryan, congrats on all of your amazing accomplishments and best of luck next year!
