    MDNA meets AC

On September 15th, mega superstar Madonna performed at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, NJ. Madge, who has been on tour since May, headlined her MDNA Tour, named after her most recent album called MDNA. MDNA is the singer’s twelfth studio album and was released last March, following her sensational performance at Super Bowl XLVI.

Madonna’s tours always have some sort of controversy surrounding them, and this tour has not been an exception. While performing in Istanbul, Turkey, the star exposed one of her breasts. Let’s just say it was no accident. Madonna also has openly mocked her rival Lady Gaga during her show by singing a mash-up of her own hit song, “Express Yourself,” and her rival’s similar-sounding song, “Born this Way.” Madonna ended the song with a verse from her song, “She’s Not Me.” Madonna claims Lady Gaga has copied her image and musical style.

In Atlantic City, Madonna’s show went on after a two-hour delay, which some audience members would tell you was a little much, even for a star as legendary as her. Madonna went on at around 10 pm, after a performance by DJ Paul Oakenfold. She opened the show with “Girl Gone Wild” from MDNA in a gothic and dark themed set. As the show progressed, the cryptic theme lifted as she performed some of her older songs like “Vogue,” “Holiday” and “Like a Prayer.”

While in segue, the Grammy award singer once again poked fun at Lady Gaga. She was quoted saying, “I’m gonna dedicate this next song to Lady Gaga. ‘Cause you wanna know something? I love her… I do love her. Imitation is the highest form of flattery…” The singer is famously offending and aggravating other stars, such as Elton John, and it seems that her feud with Lady Gaga is another to add to the list.

The aptly named “Queen of Pop” closed her show with “Celebration” from her album of the same name. During the song her twelve-year-old son, Rocco, whose father is British director Guy Ritchie, made a special appearance and danced alongside his mother. Rocco was also featured throughout the show, while oldest daughter Lourdes, sixteen, reportedly helped backstage in the wardrobe department.

Madonna is a timeless artist and always puts on a great show. This one was no exception. The MDNA Tour is to continue through North America, and then down to South America, where the tour will wrap up before the new year begins. The tour will make a stop at New York’s Madison Square Garden for two shows on November 12th and 13th.
