The Golden Globes is a nationwide award show that airs only once a year.  It celebrates the hard work that actors and actresses have put into their work to make great entertainment. This year was its 71st annual ceremony. Their purpose is to recognize the hard work and dedication put into creating a movie, TV series, short film, TV movie, original music, and other high honors for specific roles. The Golden Globes aired on January 12, 2014, and the winners of the famous Golden Globe awards this year include Amy Poehler for Best Actress in a TV Series Musical or Comedy for Parks and Recreation (NBC), and Andy Samberg for Best Actor in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy for Brooklyn Nine-Nine (FOX).

However, the Golden Globes is not just about rewarding actors and actresses; it is also about recognizing the directors and producers of movies and TV shows. Breaking Bad won for Best TV Series, Drama and Brooklyn Nine-Nine won Best TV Series, Musical or Comedy. Television is not the only media involved in this prestigious award ceremony; 12 Years a Slave, won Best Motion Picture, Drama, American Hustle won Best Motion Picture, Musical or Comedy, and Frozen won Best Animated Feature Film.Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the hosted of this year’s Golden Globes, making it their second year in a row; it has been confirmed that Tina and Amy will be the hosts of next year’s Golden Globes as well! The Golden Globes bring the award season into action, with the Screen Actors Guild Awards and Academy Awards following soon after.
