This year’s award season is approaching quickly, and your favorite new artist or rising actor may finally be getting the recognition they finally deserve. Here are the key dates and predictions for the Grammys, the BAFTAs, the SAG Awards, and the Academy Awards.
The Grammys
To start off with the only award show that isn’t film-related, the Grammys are coming to your screens shortly on Sunday, Feb. 1. According to Billboard, Kendrick Lamar is expected to have another successful night like last year. His album “GNX” is predicted to win best of the year with Lady Gaga’s “Mayhem” as a close contender.

Lamar’s single with SZA, “Luther” is almost a guarantee for Record of the Year, mirroring his success with his “Not Like Us” single. As for Song of the Year, Rolling Stone suggests that Lady Gaga’s “Abracadabra” is nearly assured to take home the win.
The Best New Artist category has sparked mixed predictions: some may say it will go to former Nickelodeon star Leon Thomas (most known for his single “MUTT”), while others say it could be Olivia Dean (known for her song “Man I Need”) or Lola Young (most known for her single “Messy”). Another big contender is famous TikTok star Alex Warren, best known for his songs “Ordinary” and “Save You a Seat.”
The Grammy’s also decided to bring their audience a new category: Best Album Cover. Fans have long requested this, and the Academy finally gave them what they wanted. According to Billboard, the top predictions for this debut win are Bad Bunny, for his “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” and Tyler, the Creator for “CHROMAKOPIA”.

The BAFTAs
The next major award show following the Grammy’s are the BAFTAs. This award show focuses on film, much like the Golden Globes, which just passed on Sunday, Jan. 11. According to Award Expert, Best Film is predicted to go to “One Battle After Another,” a newer film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Chase Infiniti.

Emily Blunt at the 2025 BAFTAs.
For Best Leading Actress, it’s highly anticipated to be Jessie Buckley in the retelling of Shakespeare’s “Hamnet.” Best Leading Actor is almost confirmed for Timothee Chalamet in “Marty Supreme.” He is currently standing at a 97 percent chance in polls, while everyone else below him is at a rating below 10 percent.
For Best Supporting Actress, it’s a close debate between Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in “Sentimental Value” and Teyana Taylor for her performance in “One Battle After Another.” Finally, for Best Supporting Actor, it will almost certainly be Stellan Skarsgård for his powerful presence in “Sentimental Value.”
Like the Grammys, the BAFTAs added a new category to the stage this year: Best Casting. This was also very exciting news for the audience as it brings more opportunity to predict and learn! The top two contenders with fluctuating percentages are “Hamnet” and “One Battle After Another,” both recognized for presenting new and familiar faces to your screen.
The SAG Awards
The SAG Awards (also known as the Actor Awards), will take place on Sunday, March 1. This show stands out for its “Best Ensemble” category which honors a film or TV show’s entire cast for their collective work. This is predicted to go to either “Sinners” or “One Battle After Another” according to Award Expert.

Elle Fanning at the 2025 SAG Awards.
Best Actress is practically in Jessie Buckley’s hands, as she is favored to get the BAFTA award as well. Best Actor, again, looks like a win for Timothee Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” like last year for his performance as Bob Dylan in “A Complete Unknown.” Chalamet taking home this win was very unexpected as it was predicted to be Adam Brody who did take the Oscar win for his performance in “The Brutalist.”
Best Supporting Actress is anticipated to be Amy Madigan for her performance in “Weapons.” Finally, Best Supporting Actor is a toss-up between Sean Penn from “One Battle After Another,” Benicio del Toro also in “One Battle After Another,” and Jacob Elordi for his unrecognizable transformation in “Frankenstein.”
The Academy Awards
On Sunday, March 15, the Academy Awards (The Oscars), will be live for everyone to watch. The Oscars is something film lovers mark on their calendars, while counting down the days until it airs live.
With the nominees just recently coming out on Thursday, Jan. 22, there were definitely some curveballs thrown. First off, Wicked: For Good received zero nominations, leaving stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo unrecognized. Another snub was Paul Mescal not getting a nomination for his appearance in “Hamnet.” This is very surprising due to his strong standing in the BAFTA and SAG races.
A final snub of many is Chase Infiniti not receiving a nomination for her performance in “One Battle After Another.” On a more positive note regarding the nominees is that Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners” made history by securing a record-breaking 16 nominations, setting the stage for a highly anticipated awards night.

Statistics for The Best Picture category.
For the predictions, experts are already calling the top winners. According to Award Expert, “One Battle After Another” is almost confirmed to win Best Picture with a staggering 97 percent chance, while the other contenders are in the single digits.
Best Actress is also almost certainly going to Jessie Buckley, and Best Actor is predicted to be Timothee Chalamet after most likely sweeping the BAFTA and the SAG Awards.
The competition for the supporting categories is intensifying as well: Teyana Taylor leads for Best Supporting Actress, though Amy Madigan is slowly rising up to be another contender. Best Supporting Actor will most likely go to Stellan Skarsgård, even though he isn’t in the looks to win the BAFTA.
Another category that the Academy includes is “Best Animated Feature,” and that is basically set for K-Pop Demon Hunters, a Netflix original, that skyrocketed as soon as it came out due to its catchy songs and phenomenal animations. Just like the BAFTAs, the Academy also added the new category, “Best Casting,” to their lineup. It’s expected to be an extremely close call between “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners.”

Viola Davis at the 89th Academy Awards.
