Michael Banovic graduated from Pascack Hills in 2018. Following his graduation, he went to Montclair State University and studied Television and Digital Media with a concentration in Television Production. Currently, he is a director at News 12 New Jersey.

The program he completed at college helped convince him to study television.

“I always had a passion for creating videos since I was in 4th grade but felt like it wasn’t something I could actually do for the rest of my life. When I found out about Montclair State and was told about their T.V. program and how so many of their graduates get jobs right out of college I knew I had to pursue my passion,” he said.

Banovic got his current job through a mentorship program at the school. A typical day at News 12 for Banovic includes controlling the cameras, lighting, and audio.

He’s a great example of how a student can join a class for fun and then take a serious interest in it.

While at Hills, Banovic took video production his sophomore and senior years.

“He was a very polite, respectful, and friendly student. We got along very well and we still keep in touch,” said Elizabeth Manzella, Hills Video Production Teacher.

Banovic visited Manzella in September and they reconnected about television programs and his current work.

Manzella ended by saying how proud she is of Banovic.

“He’s a great example of how a student can join a class for fun and then take a serious interest in it; he realized that he loved it and pursued it in college,” she said.
