Freshmen’s first impression of Hills

Starting a new school is hard, especially an ongoing pandemic. The class of 2025 have not had a normal full year of school since sixth grade, and now they are roaming the halls of Pascack Hills. There are new sports, people, clubs, and classes. Here are some of their opinions:

Starting a new school is hard, especially an ongoing pandemic. The class of 2025 have not had a normal full year of school since sixth grade, and now they are roaming the halls of Pascack Hills. There are new sports, people, clubs, and classes. Here are some of their opinions:

Lily Kelly:

Since her start at Pascack Hills, Lily Kelly has started new sports and clubs at Hills. She is a part of the Pascack Hills Volleyball team, Softball team, and Ski Club. Juggling school, clubs, and sports can be a struggle, but Kelly has found ways to manage her time. “I have found new ways to study in between all of my clubs and sports. It can be hard at times, but I am having so much fun at Hills!” said Kelly.

Connor Ohnikian:

Hills’ pride has been a highlight of Connor Ohnikian’s time at Pascack Hills. Within his first month attending Hills, he was able to recognize the tremendous amount of Hills pride, showing that Hills is a place where all sports and clubs are supported. “ Playing football has introduced me to the true Hills pride” said Ohnikian.

Kasey Shell:

“I love having the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends,” said Freshman at Hills, Kasey Shell. She has been introduced to new friends and teachers that have helped her within her first month at Hills. Shell expressed that Hills has created a space for new friendships to form. So far, Shell is enjoying her time as a freshman with all of her new classmates.

Tyler Lazarus

Football games are an inclusive place for all students to support their fellow classmates and this is no exception for freshman Tyler Lazarus.“Being at the Friday night football games is an awesome experience,” said Lazarus. Sporting events are a fun, exciting environment for all students to share their Hills pride, something that students certainly missed out on during the pandemic.

Jamie Brown:

Freshman, Jamie Brown, has had the opportunity to play on the Hills girls soccer team. Joining a new team can be difficult, but the returning girls soccer players welcomed her onto the team. The welcome Brown received from the soccer team showed her that the Hills community welcomes everyone with open arms. “I love the soccer team and I’m having so much fun playing with new people,” said Hills freshman, Jamie Brown.

Hills has welcomed the class of 2025 with open arms and has introduced them to new opportunities. Only time will tell what they can accomplish during their four years at Pascack Hills. This is only the beginning of their high school experience and there is so much fun waiting for them!
