Winter is full of magic, from hot chocolate, snuggling up by the fire, to building snowmen. Specifically throughout the years of education, the greatest thing to look forward to are snow days! The joyful feeling of waking up to the sound of the phone ringing from the school, to receive the news of a fun and relaxing day off!

Below are the top five most popular snow day superstitions that you can follow if you are crossing your fingers in hope for the perfect snow day!

1. Pajamas inside out
One of the most widely practiced snow day superstitions is wearing your pajamas inside out! The belief is that based on the silly fashion choice of swapping your clothes, it will result in waking up to a winter wonderland!

2. Ice cubes in the toilet
It may sound funny, but this superstition involves flushing a certain number of ice cubes down the toilet for each inch of snow desired. It is said that by doing so, it will produce a winter storm resulting in a day off!

3. Spoon under the pillow
By placing a spoon under your pillow before you go to bed, it is anticipated to increase the chances of a snow day! The spoon is believed to represent a snow shovel, and symbolically represents the heap of snow that will need to be shoveled!

4. White crayon on windowsill
This less popular superstition involves placing a white crayon on every windowsill in your home. It is said that somehow, the white crayon has magical powers, and can supposedly enhance the possibility of a day off!

5. Eat ice cream!
This one speaks for itself, but the frozen dessert should be eaten the night prior to a suspected snow day. Even if it doesn’t work, it’s a win-win either way!

As the snow flurries down, these superstitions offer an imaginative way to get excited for the possibility of a snow day! Whether it’s flushing ice cubes down the toilet or wearing your pajamas inside out, these rituals bring joy and anticipation to the season. So, embrace these traditions and try out these five superstitions!
