As the season changes from winter to spring, so do wardrobes and trends. However, it is not warm enough to wear short dresses, tailored shorts, and open-toed sandals. Adding a few essential pieces to your wardrobe is a great way to dress during the winter-to-spring transition.

It is very important to shift your closet from one season to another so you can know what to wear for each day depending on the weather. Here are some winter-to-spring outfit ideas that can be worn during this transitional time.

1. Trench coats

A classic trench coat is the ultimate outerwear piece for the in-between season. It effortlessly complements winter ensembles, providing warmth without the bulkiness of traditional wool coats. It can be styled with your favorite spring look, offering versatility in style.

There are so many different styles of trench coats that you can choose from, including cropped, belted, and patterned ones. You can choose a version that reflects your personality, whether it’s a warmer camel-colored option or a cooler-toned gray.

2. Crew Neck sweater

A crew neck sweater serves as another timeless addition to your winter-to-spring wardrobe. Consider a versatile crewneck sweater, rather than an ultra-warm turtleneck or lightweight scoop neck knit, as you can style it with almost every outfit.

If you don’t already own this piece, you should consider adding it to your closet. This practical clothing item easily complements various outfits, making it a long-lasting essential, available in a variety of fabrics.

3. White jeans

Contrary to the traditional association with summer, a pair of crisp white jeans is an easy way to freshen up your outfit in the transitional time. This can be styled with an oversized blazer and a baseball cap for a sporty look. Explore various styles, including skinny, straight, and flare, to keep you both stylish and warm during this transition season.

If white jeans are not your piece, you can try a pair of white trousers or neutral-colored jeans. Blue or black denim can also be a great style for the winter-to-spring wardrobe.

4. Sneakers

A comfortable sneaker is a must-have practical shoe to add to your closet. Although they’re usually considered casual, you can still wear sneakers with everything from cozy sweat sets to floral dresses.

For a casual look, wear them with a pair of tailored trousers and a half-zip pullover. A classic white sneaker is a versatile basic, but consider expanding your collection with more retro or neutral-colored styles.

5. Leggings

Leggings are a perfect item for the transition from winter to spring, as they provide warmth and comfort during the chillier days. You can pair them with lighter fabrics such as a button-down blouse or babydoll top.

If you’re still a little chilly, you could add an oversized cardigan or blazer for extra warmth and style. For a casual spring look, pair your leggings with an oversized T-shirt and denim jacket.

6. Long-sleeve shirts

Long-sleeved shirts are a great choice for dressing on those days that aren’t quite warm enough for shorts and tank tops. One way to wear a long sleeve shirt in the transition time is to pair them with a pair of light-washed jeans.

For a fun look, you can pair your long sleeve shirt with a breezy midi or maxi skirt. If you want an extra layer, you can always add a lightweight cardigan on top of the shirt.

7. Boots

Surprisingly, winter boots can be a stylish option during the transitional period. Leather or suede winter boots can be worn with long skirts or dresses and chunky or tall boots can be worn with shorter skirts and dresses.

If you want to add even more warmth to your outfit, try to layer on a lightweight trench coat, oversized cardigan, or leather jacket.

8. Cardigans

A cardigan can also be a great choice for this time of year. Style options abound when it comes to cardigans–they can be paired with dresses and skirts, or can be layered with tanks and tees. On days when the weather is warm, you can add shorts for a casual look or jeans for a more formal look.
