Throughout the month of October, Pascack Hills High School came together to support and spread awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness Month through a series of meaningful events.
October is nationally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month—a time when communities across the country unite to promote early detection, educate others, and support those affected by breast cancer. At Pascack Hills, students and staff worked together throughout the month to honor survivors, remember those who have courageously lost their battle, and uplift those currently facing cancer.
Understanding Breast Cancer
What is breast cancer? It is a disease that develops when breast cells grow uncontrollably, causing tumors to form that may spread to nearby tissues or other parts of the body, damaging them. Beyond its physical impact, breast cancer can cause emotional, financial, and psychological challenges for those who are facing it or have survived it. Fighting against this disease involves immense fees for treatments, which is why our community’s support is so vital.
The Driving Force: Teens Against Cancer (TAC)
Teens Against Cancer, also known as TAC, has been one of Hills’ most popular clubs for the past few years and has been the driving force behind this year’s awareness efforts. TAC has continuously shown immense effort throughout the years, raising money, bringing the community together, and supporting breast cancer causes, whether it’s October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) or not. The club once again showed outstanding dedication this October by hosting a range of events to raise money and educate the community.
Here’s a look at the events:
Hills Goes Pink! 🩷
In a show of support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, TAC members rallied to decorate the school’s common areas in pink. Using ribbons, streamers, and banners, they transformed the foyers, hallways, and the gym into a vibrant, inspiring display, raising energy throughout the school.

To celebrate senior night at Pascack Hills, TAC partnered with the Football Team to conduct an annual Pink Out Football Game on Friday, Oct. 17. This special event recognized and honored Hills seniors and raised awareness for breast cancer. The significance was visible everywhere. The bleachers were decked out in pink, along with an enthusiastic crowd. Although the Hills team ultimately fell to the Dumont Huskies 22-14, that did not stop their dedication to bringing an electric atmosphere while honoring seniors and spreading awareness.

Dig Pink: Hills vs. Valley 🏐
Wednesday, Oct. 29, marked the annual Hills vs. Valley volleyball game that was conducted by the volleyball team and TAC. Every year, Hills and Valley alumni gather together to watch this intense tournament while honoring Breast Cancer Month. TAC members helped initiate this event by working side by side with staff to bring tons of pink into the gym and hope into the game. They sold snacks, held raffles, and decorated the main gym, bringing true spirit into the student section and the overall game. The game was a huge success for Hills as they brought home the win in the third set, scoring 30-28 against Valley. This was an honorable moment for the Hills Volleyball team, marking their first win against Valley since 2019. Despite the rivalry, both schools came together for an important cause and raised money to support breast cancer.
