Starting on Thursday, March 19, the Pascack Players opened their spring production of “The Addams Family.” Following the success of the fall play, “Radium Girls,” the Players entered rehearsals determined to replicate their previous achievements.
Pascack Theater
“The Addams Family” is only the second production that the Players have staged since officially separating from Pascack Valley to reform as their own theater group. Both students and staff showed a significant dedication to the project, staying late almost every night to ensure the best production possible.
“Preparing for a show like ‘The Addams Family’ takes a lot of work and time,” said Owen Baskin, a sophomore who portrays Uncle Fester in the play. “We started our process a few months ago, and since then we have worked so hard to create something special,”
About the play
The musical follows a grown-up Wednesday Addams (Caitlin Buckley) who has fallen in love with Lucas Beineke (Henry Paikin). Wednesday confides her secret romance to her father, Gomez (Elijah Chen), forcing him to do something he has never done before: keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia (Camilla Ambrocio).
The tension culminates during a fateful dinner party at the Addams’ Central Park estate, where the two wildly different families collide and secrets are unearthed by the meddling Uncle Fester. By the end of the night, every heart — living, dead, or undecided — is forced to embrace its own unique brand of darkness.
