Week in Bronco Sports: 10/16-10/21

Monday, Oct. 16

Volleyball vs. Indian Hills – 2-0 Win

Hills volleyball got a straight-set win over Indian Hills on Monday, gaining much-needed momentum after two straight-set losses. It was a crushing win, with the Broncos winning the first set 25-10 and the second set 25-16.

Gymnastics at West Milford – 101-88.4 Win

Gymnastics had a big win against West Milford. The Broncos won every category, led by Hope Gasperino and Kiera Jennings.

Gymnastics at Mount Olive – 106.95-101 Win

Gymnastics had a tough loss to Mount Olive on Monday. Hope Gasperino won vault for the Broncos, the only win for Pascack Hills.

Boys Soccer vs. Emerson – 4-1 Win

A big win for Hills on Monday pretty much secured their spot in the state tournament. Senior Christian Grubic scored two goals on senior night, with other seniors Andy Kim and Zach Goldman scoring one each.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

Gymnastics at Randolph – 100.7-98.85 Win

Hope Gasperino won four out of five categories for the Broncos in their win over Randolph on Tuesday.

Girls Tennis vs. River Dell – 3-2 Win

Girls tennis had a close win on Tuesday. Kanishka Prasanna and Jillian Fleishman won their singles matches. Samanatha Lazar and Olivia Ge won their doubles match in three sets, giving Hills a 3-2 win.

Gymnastics vs. Sparta – 100.7-98.3 Win

Hills won four out of five categories in a win over Sparta on Tuesday.

Girls Soccer vs. Ramsey – 1-0 Loss

Girls soccer had a tough loss on Tuesday to Ramsey. Lizzie Rubin scored the only goal for the Rams.

Wednesday, Oct. 18

Girls Tennis vs. Ramsey – 5-0 Win

The Broncos won all of their matches against Ramsey on Wednesday to end their season at 12-3. Congratulations to the girls tennis team on a great season!

Volleyball vs. Paramus – 2-1 Win

Hills had a close win over Paramus on Wednesday. Paramus won the first set 25-22, but Hills came back to win the second set 25-21 and the third set 25-19. On senior night, Ella Espino had 12 digs and 4 assists, Elyssa Samani had 5 kills, and Mikka Jarvis had 31 assists.

Thursday, Oct. 19

Girls Soccer at River Dell – 0-0 Tie

Girls soccer played to a scoreless tie against River Dell on Thursday. Brianna Arendacs had seven saves.

Boys Soccer vs. River Dell – 1-1 Tie

Another tie for soccer against River Dell on Thursday. This time it had some scoring, with Christian Grubic scoring late in the second half to tie the game.

Football at Hopatcong – 20-13 Win

A big win for football on Thursday saw them finish the regular season at 7-1. Jordan Morrell had an early five-yard touchdown run to put the Broncos up 7-0. Connor Ohnikian had two rushing touchdowns, and Jacob Cherkas had an interception late to secure the win for the Broncos. A 36-7 loss for Fair Lawn to Teaneck on Saturday means the Broncos win the Super Football Conference Ivy Red Division Championship for the second straight year. Hills will host a home playoff game this Thursday (10/26) at 7:00.

Friday, Oct. 20

Girls Soccer vs. Dumont – 4-0 Win

A big win for girls soccer saw Emily Rennie, Kiera Hickey, Jamie Brown, and Hayley Schrager all score in a 4-0 win.

Volleyball vs. Bergen Tech – 2-1 Win

Another close win for volleyball came on Friday against Bergen Tech. Bergen Tech won the first set 26-24, but Hills won the second set 25-22 and crushed the Knights 25-9 in the third set.

Gymnastics at Tenafly – 96.675-94.8 Win

Another win for gymnastics came on Friday. Hope Gasperino led every category.

Gymnastics at Clifton – 96.675-95.975 Win

A close win in gymnastics saw Hope Gasperino lead four out of five categories. Gymnastics finishes the season at 7-1.

Saturday, Oct. 21

Boys Soccer vs. Bergen Tech (Bergen County Invitational Semifinal) – 3-0 Loss

Hills had a 3-0 loss on Saturday in the semifinals of the Bergen Invitational Tournament.
