Boys Bowling
The Bowling team is already 7 games deep into their season, with an outstanding record of 8-0. The Broncos had a good win on Monday 1/5 against Passaic High School, sweeping all of their games. Bronco senior bowler Alex McKay dominated the game, with the highest set, game, and player average. He averaged 217.00 points per game, and the total of all of the 3 games was 651.00 points. Their next game was played on Wednesday 1/7 against Tenafly. The Broncos keep their undefeated record strong, with seniors Alex McKay and Ryan Cothron. McKay had the highest set, 604, Cothron had the highest game, 233, and McKay had the highest average of 201.33.
Girls Bowling
The Girls Bowling team is heading towards the middle of their season with a record of 2-5. The Broncos had a tough loss on Monday 1/5 against Northern Highlands, losing 7 games to none, with each game very close. The Broncos top bowler was Sophomore Sasha Kryagin, with her highest set, 364.00, highest game, 150.00, and her average was 121.33. Their next game was played on Wednesday 1/7 against Tenafly. They lost 7-0, but sophomore Evie Eggers had a great performance as the top bowler for Hills. She had the highest set, 278, highest game, 128, and the highest average of 92.67.
Girls Basketball
The Girls Basketball team is getting started with their season with a 3-5 record. This week they had two games, with a tough loss against Mahwah on Tuesday 1/6, losing in a very close game of 34-37. Their week ended with a good win against Indian Hills on Thursday 1/8, with a score of 38-24. Junior Sabrina Madonick had the most points scored for the game, with 9 points, knocking down 2 threes. Hills is looking to improve their record at their following games this season.
Boys Basketball
The Broncos started their week with a loss against Mahwah, losing 51-66. Although they lost, junior Jonah Bibi had a great performance, with 22 points, the highest total points of the game. Sophomore Adam Narins also had a good game, with a total of 12 points. With this loss, the Broncos record was 1-4. Their next game was Thursday 1/8 against Indian Hills, also losing 32-47. Junior Jonah Bibi also scored the most points for this game, with 10 points, and junior David Fruitbine came close with 9 points. After this week, the boys record is 1-5, but they look to get their second win next Tuesday 1/13 against Ramsey.
Wrestling
The Broncos faced their first match of the week on Wednesday 1/7, against Westwood. They lost 31-30 in a very close match. Senior Mathew Velez Intriago had a great match, pinning Westwood in 1:52. This put the Broncos in the lead, but the lead fell in the last match up. Their next game was Friday, 1/9, against Paramus Catholic. They lost 21-47, but Junior Ajdin Radoncic had a very good match, pinning Paramus Catholic in just 22 seconds. This made the Broncos lead even bigger in the 4th match of the night. Hills looks to keep up their very good record, 8-3, through the rest of their season.
Winter Track
The Winter Track team had the Big North Championship meet Monday 1/5. The boys did well placing 3rd overall in the meet, with senior James Reed finishing first in the 55 meter hurdle prelims, with a time of 8.17 seconds. Senior Brandon Willerton also finished first in his event, the high jump, at the 5,8 mark. The girls finished 4th overall in the meet, with junior Keria Hickey placing first in the 800 meter run, with a time of 2:22.28. Junior Isabella Riotto also finished first in the long jump event, with her mark at 17-4. Lastly, Junior Rianna Kirkorian finished first in the shot put, with her mark at 31-3.75.
Swimming
The Pascack Swim team had their senior night Tuesday 1/6, and the girls and boys both won. The girls won 106-62 with senior Amanda Bramley placing first in 2 solo events, the 50 yard freestyle, with a time of 25:27, and the 100 backstroke with a time of 58:51. She also placed first in two relays, the 200 freestyle, with freshman Gemma Catanzaro, senior Ryan Zoelle, and junior Maizie Catanzaro, with the time 1:51:23. The second relay was the 400 freestyle, with junior Phoebe Garretson, sophomore Alexandra Cinek, and junior Kiera Sullivan, with a time of 4:10.58.
Boys swimming also won with a score of 91-76. Seniors Kyle Hanna and Nathan Jeong each placed first in 2 solo events, and 2 relays. Hanna had 24.07 in the 50 freestyle, and 58.01 in the 100 fly. Jeong swam the 200 IM, with a time of 2:11.43, and the 100 backstroke, 59.13. They both were in the two winning relays, 200 MR, with sophomore Zachary Cinek, and freshman Ryder Wilson, with a time of 1:51.13. The second relay was 400 freestyle, with freshman Ryder Wilson, and sophomore Yavuz Ozbek, with a time of 3:50.75. Their next meet of the week was on Thursday 1/8.
The girls and boys both lost against Passaic Tech. The girls lost 59-111, which was a tough loss, but senior Amanda Bramley was able to squeeze out 2 first place finishes, one in the 50 freestyle, 25.36, and one in the 100 backstroke, 59.41. The boys also lost with a score of 60-110. Senior Nathan Jeong was also able to pull out 2 first place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 58.26, and the 500 freestyle, 5:34.33. The swim team is coming to the end of their regular season, and they strive to pull out more wins.
