Boys Basketball:
After finishing with a record of 15-10 last season, the boys basketball team tied with Ramsey for the division championship and they made it to the quarterfinals of sectional tournament. Coach Paul D’Errico enters his ninth season with a completely new starting five, as the boys begin their season at home against Paramus Catholic on December 17th.
Girls Basketball:
After finishing with a record of 7-16 last season, girls basketball finished in fifth place in the Big North Patriot division. Coach A.J. Aliprantis, also the girls soccer coach at Pascack Hills, begins his first season as head coach of the girls basketball program. The girls also open their season on December 17th at Paramus Catholic. The home opener for the girls is December 20th against Lakeland.
Wrestling:
Wrestling strives for another great season this year after completing the previous season with a record of 17-10, finishing in a three-way split for the league title. Wrestling made it to the semifinals of the sectional tournament last year, and looks to be led by plenty of returning seniors including Hassan Shawkat, Matt Velez, and Dillon Cahill. Coach Dave Bucco looks to win the league title independently this year.
Boys Bowling:
Coming off a record of 11-4 last year, the boys finished in second place in the Big North Patriot Division. They also made it to the first round of the state sectional tournament. Coach Jordan Saxon expects a great year out of the boys. He is thrilled to have many great returning players to help lead the team in the season to come.
Girls Bowling
Also led by Coach Saxon, the girls bowling team strives to have yet another accomplished year. Coming off an 8-8 record, the girls finished in third place in the Big North Patriot division. They made it to the quarterfinal round of the sectional tournament. Coach Saxon is excited to see what the girls have in store for this winter.
Hockey:
After coming off of a record of 16-6 last season, hockey finished as split league champions with Northern Highlands in the Big North Freedom division. Hockey also made it to the quarterfinal round of their sectional tournament. Senior Justin Yoo is excited to see how the team will develop this year to continue the recent success of Pascack hockey into the new season. They kick off their season against Clarkstown on December 5th.
Boys Swimming:
Following a record last season of 3-4, the boys swimming team finished in second place in the Big North Liberty division. This year, with a larger team, they strive to be able to make it further into the season and expect a great turnout. They begin their season on December 3 against Lakeland.
Girls Swimming:
Girls Swimming finished their season last year with a record of 4-4, finishing in second place in the Big North Liberty division. The girls made it to the quarterfinals of the North 1, Group A tournament. Senior captain Ryan Zoelle, is excited to see how the younger swimmers develop to eventually lead the team. “I think seeing how they’re going to be able to carry the team, the energy, and how they’re going to be able to lead us in the following years,” said Zoelle. Girls swimming opens their season on December 3rd against Lakeland.
Boys Indoor Track:
Boys indoor track looks to have another successful season this year as the reigning league champions. Senior Jacob Farrar looks forward to closing out his fourth and final season of running Winter Track along with his fellow seniors. The boys indoor track team will kick off their season at the Spikeshoe Holiday Festival at the New York City Armory.
Girls Indoor Track:
Girls indoor track is looking forward to a great winter season. Junior Kiera Hickey said, “I’m looking forward to continuing to grow with my teammate and seeing what we can accomplish as a team.” Hickey also looks to repeat as a county champion in the 800 and 1000 meter races. Girls indoor track looks forward to a great upcoming winter season.
