Monday, Dec. 11

Ice Hockey at Fair Lawn – 5-0 Win

Last year, the Pascack Hockey Team made it to the state semifinals, a new record for the 20-year-old team. This year, goalie Aidan Rybacki graduated, but there was little change in the offense. Jack Sheehan scored twice and had one assist in the season opener. Daniel Epstein, Patrick Haworth, and Kevin McNamara scored the other three goals.

Tuesday, Dec. 12

Boys Swimming vs. Northern Highlands – 92-78 Loss

Boys swimming lost their season opener against Northern Highlands. Brian Yang scored the only win for the team in the 500-yard freestyle category.

Girls Swimming vs. Northern Highlands – 91-79 Win

For the first time in Pascack Swim history, the swimming team defeated Northern Highlands. Two wins from Amanda Bramley in the 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke led the team to a victory in their season opener.

Boys Bowling vs. Westwood – 4-3 Loss

The Pascack Hills Boys Bowling Team had a close loss to Westwood to kick off their season. Despite Jason Sorrentino’s 221 three-game average leading all competitors, Westwood ended with a 4-3 win.

Thursday, Dec. 14

Boys Bowling vs. Ramsey – 7-0 Win

Boys bowling bounced back on Thursday with a shutout win over Ramsey. Sorrentino’s 208 three-game average was a little below his average on Tuesday, but enough to get the Broncos back to a .500 record in the young season.

Girls Bowling vs. Ramsey – 7-0 Win

Girls bowling had their season opener against Ramsey and won 7-0. Senior Hadyn Hopper led the team with a 187 three-game average.

Girls Basketball vs. Demarest – 56-19 Loss

Girls basketball lost their opener on Thursday. The score at halftime was only 16-11, but Demarest finished the fourth quarter at 21-0.

Boys Basketball vs. Demarest – 57-56 Loss

There was a lot of excitement in the air for the start of the boys basketball season at Pascack Hills. Some said that this team could contend for a state championship with schools like Dumont and Ramsey. Returning seniors Nick Lukmann, David Weidmuller, and Cole Piscotti will try to make that a reality. But the excitement was tapered by a one-point loss to Group III contenders Demarest on Thursday. The game was close throughout, with the Broncos having a four-point lead at the end of the third quarter. However, Demarest had a 13-point fourth quarter, while the Broncos had eight points.

Friday, Dec. 15

Ice Hockey vs. Paramus Catholic – 10-0 Win

Much like boys basketball, Pascack Hockey’s home opener was highly anticipated throughout the week. A historic season will do that. The boys did not disappoint, particularly Hills’ own Zach and Austin Groves. They scored a combined nine goals, with Zach, the senior, getting five to sophomore Austin’s four. Jack Sheehan scored the remaining goal.

Saturday, Dec. 16

Wrestling at the Wendy Pandy-Leh Invitational

We end the week with Pascack Hills wrestling in their season-opening tournament. Last year, the Broncos scored their 700th program win. While many seniors graduated, there is a great returning core in Gary Cooper, Tyler Duffy, and Columbia University-commit Jake Wacha. The Broncos placed seventh out of ten teams in the tournament, but Wacha notched a win in the 150-pound class.
